No, Aleph is very much alive, it's just that Giuseppe is finishing some 
unfinished business. I have also communicated with the dvipdfmx people, who 
have provided map specials support; this is a big help to aleph.

There are some other, more high-level, developments I'm working on, but I'd 
rather not say more till I'm about ready to release them...

Please do send the bug reports; and don't give up yet!
