That's slightly better, but can you please also check the following:

\defineseparatedlist
  [CSV]
  [separator=comma,
   before=\bTABLE,after=\eTABLE,
   first=\bTR,last=\eTR,
   left=\bTD,right=\eTD]

% I would expect an empty cell between "a" and "b", but the second
cell starts with comma instead - I guess that it worked OK in the
first version
\startseparatedlist[CSV]
a,,b,c
d,e,f
\stopseparatedlist
