Hi,
We can't do what Hans asks right now, but it may be worthwhile to
add a new if statement in some locations to support this (a
similar issue is present for the output routine).
If we have
\newif\iftracingfonts
Then maybe we can do
\def\synchronizefont%
{\iftracingfonts\else \tracingnone \fi
........ }
or something similar is possible. WDYT?

Usually I employ \tracingmacros=1 in order to find nasty problems in my
macros.
Font operations then produce a lot of noise in the log.
Is it possible to shutdown these selectively?
