And \endlinechar=10 \catcode10=12 to enable the Lua parser
seeing multiple lines instead of one merged huge line.

Or use Lua's module management and make a separate file as module:
  module('foobar', package.seeall)
  ...
That get's loaded via
  require('foobar')
